 Our Honorees

Billy and Nicole Miller of
Restoration Kitchen

The motto at Restoration Kitchen & Cocktails restaurant in Lindenhurst is, “When you have more than you need, build a longer table, not a higher fence.”

For Restoration’s owner and executive chef Billy Miller, the motto is much more than aspirational. It has been his reality since opening in August 2018 on the former site of a Lindenhurst civic organization, Old Fellows, whose mission was to anonymously give back to the needy.

The restaurant takes all its net profits every four months and gives them to local charities. Net profits are calculated after all other expenses, such as food vendors, utilities, and staff salaries, including his own, have come out. So far, Miller says, Restoration has donated more than $153,000 to local charities.

At the end of each meal at Restoration, diners are given the option of which charity they want the proceeds from their bill to be donated to. At each table, placards describe the charities being donated to and exactly who is being helped.

Owners and husband and wife team, Billy and Nicole Miller selected MOMMAS House as one of the charities to benefit from their 4Q 2020 profits, resulting in a very generous donation to support our programs and services for mothers and their babies!

Miller, born and raised in nearby West Babylon, says the concept of Restoration is quite simple: “We give back to those people who really need it.”

“They are always a Long Island charity,” Miller says. “I don’t like to cross a bridge…There are enough people right on LI who need help.”

Check it out, we can personally attest that the food and drinks are delicious! Restoration Kitchen is located at 49 East Hoffman Ave. in Lindenhurst. It can be reached at 631-592-1905 or restorationli.com.

The Francesco and Mary Giambelli Foundation

The mission of the Foundation includes continuing the charitable lifetime works of Francesco and Mary Giambelli and to perpetuate their memory and the Italian culture which they promoted through their hospitality and charity.

The Giambelli Foundation has made major contributions to religious, scientific, literary, educational, and other philanthropic causes, as well as improving the quality of life for many. We have a record of accomplishments to celebrate together thanks to the generosity of beloved Francesco and Mary Giambelli, who had the insight and devotion of visionary leaders.

Francesco Giambelli made a name for himself in the restaurant industry throughout Italy and Europe, before immigrating to America in 1954. Francesco and Mary met one year later, marking the beginning of a remarkable personal and professional partnership. In 1956, Francesco opened Giambelli’s Ristorante on Madison Avenue and 37th Street in New York, where Italian American cuisine was elevated to culinary greatness. In 1960, he and Mary opened Giambelli’s 50th Ristorante on 50th Street near St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Later, Francesco and Mary took over the charming Mercurio Ristorante on West 56th Street in Manhattan.

Over the years, Giambelli’s 50th served many distinguished personalities, including presidents of the United States and other countries. Its clientele included kings, queens and other royalty, theatrical and motion picture celebrities, politicians and business executives.

Taking to heart the words “not the least of my brethren,” Francesco and Mary demonstrated a lifetime of generosity toward those in need. On regular basis, Francesco and Mary contributed food and funds to the Cardinal’s program for feeding the homeless and made substantial contributions to many charitable organizations. They established the Francesco and Mary Giambelli Foundation with the intention of creating a legacy that would continue their lifetime charitable intentions and promote the ideals of Italian American Culture.

MOMMAS House wishes to also recognize Justine and Jim Tenney for recommending that the foundation support our mission.
